The Emirates Flight Training Academy (EFTA) is one of the newest and most technologically advanced flight training facilities in the world. Located at Dubai South, near Al Maktoum International Airport, EFTA offers an all-inclusive 94-week cadet program with state-of-the-art facilities. While the price tag of USD 181,650 for international students is premium, the quality of training and the proximity to Emirates airline make it a compelling option for those aiming at a career in Middle Eastern aviation.
Program Overview
EFTA was established by Emirates Group and opened its purpose-built campus in 2020. The academy operates a modern fleet of Cirrus SR22 and Embraer Phenom 100 aircraft, along with state-of-the-art simulators. The 94-week integrated program takes cadets from zero experience through to a CPL with instrument rating, multi-engine rating and frozen ATPL theory. The program is all-inclusive: accommodation, meals, uniforms, training materials and all flight hours are covered in the tuition fee.
Selection Process
EFTA uses the COMPASS aptitude test as its primary selection tool, supplemented by assessments in mathematics and physics. The selection process includes:
Costs and Funding
The all-inclusive nature of the fee simplifies financial planning — there are no hidden costs for accommodation, food or materials. However, the USD 181,650 total makes EFTA one of the most expensive ab initio programs globally. Financing options are available through selected banking partners in the UAE.
Training Structure
The 94-week program is structured in sequential phases:
Facilities
EFTA's purpose-built campus at Dubai South features modern classrooms, briefing rooms, a dedicated ramp, a fleet of 27 aircraft (Cirrus SR22 and Embraer Phenom 100), full-motion simulators and residential accommodation. The Dubai location offers year-round flying weather and access to diverse airspace, from desert to coastal environments.
How OnlinePilotTraining.com Helps You Prepare
EFTA uses the COMPASS test — one of the most widely practiced assessments on our platform. OnlinePilotTraining.com offers dedicated COMPASS preparation modules covering all six components: basic coordination, slalom, multitasking, spatial orientation, memory and instrument monitoring. Additionally, our mathematics and physics modules help you prepare for the supplementary assessments that EFTA includes in their selection.
Strategy: Focus on COMPASS coordination and multitasking first (these are the hardest to improve), then work on your maths and physics fundamentals. Our adaptive system will progressively increase difficulty as your skills develop.
